UK broadcaster ITV has commissioned a new primetime documentary to be hosted by Elton John. The show – Me, Myself and I – is the first primetime programme from Globe Productions, the production company set up by record company Universal Music. It is expected to TX later this summer.
Iain Funnell, general manager at Globe Productions, which was created in June 2006, said that it was looking at interesting formats that would boost its artists’ profiles. "We’re looking at new ways to present an artist’s career, new ways to tell their stories," he said.
The firm, which has a number of projects and coproductions in development, is looking to expand from covering live performances and traditional one-off documentaries. "We’ve all seen shows about Motown before, we need to look at interesting ideas – the channels don’t want one-offs they want strands and series," he said.
