Singapore launches new TV fund

Hong Kong production company Salon Films is to set up a S$100 million (US$66 million) media fund in Singapore to produce a slate of TV, film, animation and online projects over the next five years.

Subsidiary Salon Media Management announced the launch of the Integrated Media Fund at the Asia Media Festival.

The fund will also include producers such as Japan’s Yoshimoto Kogyo, Singapore’s MediaCorp Raintree Pictures and China’s Hengdian World Studios.

Salon FIlms chairman Fred Wang said: "It is our hope that this new fund will not only aid productions between Asia filmmakers and Singapore’s new media makers but will also propel Singapore into the pioneering of structured media finance and film services, to provide the required support and funding for Asia media makers."

The move was backed by Singapore’s Media Development Authority.

It follows the launch of a number of other financing arrangements including RGM Entertainment’s US$400 million fund
