NHNZ inks copro deal with Korea’s MBC

Korean broadcaster MBC has inked a deal with New Zealand producer NHNZ to coproduce a new wildlife series.

The two companies are coproducing a documentary series that will look at the wildlife of the demilitarized zone – the DMZ – that separates North and South Korea.

Neil Harraway, EVP, development and marketing, NHNZ says that the opportunity to film in the DMZ was too fascinating to pass up. “The DMZ is one of the most militaristic yet stunningly beautiful places in the world. The program will showcase the wonderful creatures that flourish in this bizarre environment as well as the effects on the wildlife of living in close quarters with one of the world’s toughest military regimes,” he says.

The one hour doc will be distributed internationally, although no distributor is currently in place.

This follows Fox-owned NHNZ’s expansion across Asia; the company, which already operates a production company in Singapore, and recently struck a coproduction deal with Chinese producer Beijing Yuanchun Media to produce China Quake.
