People to meet: WPP’s Martin Sorrell

Sir Martin Sorrell is the best known advertising executive in the world. Having founded WPP in 1985 and been CEO since launch, he has built the world’s largest advertising and marketing services company. Today, the WPP group employs 141,000 people across 2,400 offices in 107 countries.

Sorrell will be giving the opening keynote address – and answering questions – at NATPE, a TV market, but one where all of the delegates are beholden to the health, or otherwise, of the advertising sector.

Outside of WPP, Sorrell’s diverse activities include serving as a non-executive director of Alpha Topco, the Formula 1 company, on the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum International Business Council, a member of the Business Council in the US, a Patron of the British Museum, a member of the corporate Advisory Group of the Tate Gallery and is on the International Advisory Board of The Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
