Italian pay TV channel Sky has bought Borgia, the Tom Fontana drama series about the Italian renaissance family.
The series, which is coproduced by Atlantique Production, EOS Entertainment and Etic Film and had previously been picked up by Canal+ in France and HBO in Latin America.
In Germany, it will be on free-to-air channel ZDF and in Austria on ORF.
Distributor Beta Film claims that its €30 million budget makes Borgia the most expensive European series of all time.
Beta Film launched the series internationally at MIP TV. It is one of two series about the historical Italian family. The other series, The Borgias has started airing on US cable net Showtime.
