#14: Partners (CBS)

The US networks are deep into development season and have spent the past few weeks frantically ordering pilots ahead of this year’s Upfronts and LA Screenings. TBI takes a look at some of the most interesting projects that are up for consideration.

#14: Partners (CBS)

Since we started covering this year’s pilots, we have written about a lot of high-concept mystery series and big-budget action dramas. However, these shows either go big or fail early. Multi-camera sitcoms, on the other hand, have a habit of sticking around and performing solidly.

Partners is, essentially, an updated version of Will & Grace, created by Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan.

The show follows two architects; one gay and one straight. Ugly Betty’s Michael Urie plays the gay architect, dating Superman star Brandon Routh, who plays a former alcoholic, club hopping model, now a sober, vegan nurse. The show will also star The Office’s Lucy Davis, One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush and The Black Donnellys’ Elizabeth Regen.

The show is being produced by Mutchnick and Kohan, who have also worked on series including $#*! My Dad Says, in association with Warner Bros Television.

Chances: Solid; there’s always room for a multicamera sitcom on CBS.
