Eddy and Patsy are heading back across Europe after BBC Worldwide closed a raft of deals for the Absolutely Fabulous 20th anniversary specials. This deal comes at the start of BBC Worldwide Showcase, its annual programming event, which kicked off in Liverpool.
Broadcasters including DR (Denmark), NPO (Holland), NRK (Norway), RUV (Iceland), SVT (Sweden), VRT (Belgium) and YLE (Finland) have acquired the three new episodes of the comedy.
The first two episodes of the latest run of Absolutely Fabulous aired in the UK before Christmas and the final episode will coincide with the Olympics. The series is A Saunders & French Production in association with the BBC and coproduced by BBC America and Logo.
Executive producer Jon Plowman said: “Fantastic, clearly vast bits of the world have not forgotten Eddy and Patsy, this is wonderful news and we hope that soon we will be in the home of fashion, France.”
BBC Worldwide Showcase, which welcomed more than 640 international buyers, runs from 26th to the 29th February.
