US network ABC is confident of launching a Hulk live-action television series next year and ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee has told TBI that it could even be developed “off-season”.
This follows the huge success of The Avengers movie, which stars Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, which is the first movie distributed by ABC-owner Disney after the studio acquired the comic book company in 2009.
“Marvel is a huge opportunity. Hulk is something we are definitely developing and hope to see it reach to pilot next season or even in the off season. We want things to be in the same [Marvel] world and to complement the Marvel movies,” Lee said.
Battlestar Galatica’s David Eick and director Guillermo del Toro have both been attached to The Hulk pilot, but it’s not clear whether they will continue to be involved.
ABC was previously developing Aka Jessica Jones, based on the Alias comic by Brian Michael Bendis, but it wasn’t picked up to series this season.
