FremantleMedia Australia has hired media executive Zara Curtis to run its nascent low-cost production division Spring.
Curtis joins the company from NewsLifeMedia, where she was commercial director.
The Australian arm of the international producer and distributor launched the production arm in September 2011 as it looked to produce non-primetime programming and content for the growing number of digital channels that are looking for original content.
Spring is a standalone division of FremantleMedia Australia, although Curtis and her new team will work alongside FremantleMedia Enterprises.
She joins in mid-July.
Ian Hogg, regional CEO, Australia and Asia Pacific, FremantleMedia, said: “Zara’s track record in the media industry, and especially in the magazine sector, is second to none. Her depth of experience in building and managing relationships with agencies and clients will be invaluable for Spring’s development, as will her flair as a future-thinker.”
