Brazilian media group Globo has teamed up with Portuguese pay TV operator Zon Multimédia to launch a new channel for Portugal.
The Globo channel, which will begin airing this Sunday on Zon’s basic cable package, will carry Brazilian telenovelas including Aquele Beijo and Seize the Day.
“Globo has a special affection for Portugal. This partnership with Zon is very important to us. We are enthusiastic and our objective is to be one of the main cable channels in the country. We want to be the best option for Brazilian content in Portugal,” said Ricardo Scalamandré, head of Globo’s international business.
Portuguese viewers can already watch Globo content on premium channel TV Globo Portugal. The broadcaster also co-produces content with Portuguese broadcaster SIC.
