Canada/Oz kids pirate sails into production, Breakthrough attached

Canadian producer Atomic Cartoons and its Australian counterpart Sticky Pictures have started production on Pirate Express, a new animated pirate show for kids.

The 52x11mins series was ordered by Canadian broadcaster Teletoon and Australian free to air network Nine.

Canada-based Breakthrough Entertainment will sell the series in international markets.

Aimed at 7-to-11s, the series follows the adventures of a 12 year old boy from Atlantis, and the son of Poseidon, and his pirate friends on their ship the Pirate Express.

Atomic Cartoons is the producer of Atomic Betty while Sticky Pictures is best known as the producer of Dennis & Gnasher based on the iconic British comic strip.
