The Australian free-to-air broadcaster commissioned the series from Shine’s Australian division, which will make the singing talent show for kids aged 8-14.
Two seasons of The Voice have now aired on Nine and auditions are already underway for the kids spin-off, which will use the same set and follow the same format as the grown-up version.
The celebrity mentors have yet to be announced for the show, which will air at an unspecified point in 2014.
Julie Ward, director of entertainment for Shine Australia, said: “We are confident that there are amazing young singers who will benefit from the unique experience of being part of The Voice and we want to see them register to audition.”
The Voice has rapidly emerged as one of the most successful formats in the world. It was created by John de Mol’s Talpa, which will have a coproduction credit on the Australian kids version.
