KiKA licenses second Spike telemovie

SpikeGerman children’s channel KiKA has licensed Christmas telemovie Spike 2 on the back of ratings success of the first.

The 1x35mins show from TAT Productions and Master Films first did good figures for KiKA four years ago, prompting the new acquisition, scored with distributor PGS Entertainment.

The new film follows an elf that has to find Santa’s kidnapped reindeer.

Spike 1 has been a huge success on KiKA during the Christmas seasons since 2009 so it’s a consistent decision to have Spike 2 as well in our portfolio,” said Sebastian Debertin, head of KiKA’s fiction & programme acquisitions.

France Télévisions, Télétoon in Canada and Canal+ Family commissioned the film, which has already sold to Rai in Italy, RTBF in French-speaking Belgium, VRT in Flemish-speaking Belgium, RTS in French-speaking Switzerland, LRT in Lithuania, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden, TV2 in Denmark, Workpoint TV in Thailand, The CW’s Vortexx in the US, Radio Canada in French-speaking Canada, SimbaSat in French-speaking Africa and TV5 (French-speaking territories worldwide).
