The show comes from Paris-based French TV and sees 12 contestants quizzed by ‘profiler’, who attempts to determine which ones are holding suitcases filled with cash through a series of extreme challenges.
“We saw that dramas featuring profilers like The Mentalist were proving popular with viewers and started to think how we could take this idea and present it in a fun game show,” said French TV’s head of international affairs Jerome Pichot.
Fredrik Af Malmborg, managing director at Eccho Rights, added: “It’s great to be working with French TV on a new format. With international successes like Duel [which has sold to ABC in the US and ITV in the UK] under their belts, the company instinctively knows what makes a good game show. Their newest offering Who’s Got the Money? combines tension and entertainment in a fresh way.”
