S4C will take a “significant” chunk of the Wildseed business, which commissions content from creators and invests in new projects across all platforms.
The deal gives S4C the opportunity to coproduce selected Wildseed projects and the rights to dub the content into Welsh for broadcast on the S4C channel.
Former Aardman television chief and BBC Children’s buyer Jesse Cleverly launched the company last year.
Commenting on the investment, S4C’s head of commercial development David Bryant said” “We were really impressed with Miles & Jesse’s vision for Wildseed and the opportunity it offers to invest in a highly commercial proposition. The investment creates another way for talent in Wales to access finance and strategic and creative support for projects that they want to develop.”
“We were really impressed with S4C’s enthusiasm for our business model and willingness to move quickly to get involved with our company,” aded Bullough, Wildseed’s managing director.
“The investment gives us a great platform from which to launch our content proposition in the New Year on YouTube and elsewhere and to continue to work with the most exciting new and established talent both inside and outside of Wales.”
