German pubcaster ZDF has commissioned a two-part miniseries about famous teenage World War II diarist Anne Frank and her family.
German producer Oliver Berben is attached the helm the project, which production group indie Constanin Film and Moovie are coproducing. Screenwriter Andrea Stoll will write the scripts.
The mini is slated to go to air in Germany in 2015, on the 70th anniversary of Frank’s death at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.
ZDF’s commercial arm ZDF Enterprises is likely to shop it internationally, though the pubcaster couldn’t be contacted for confirmation before press time.
ZDF says the miniseries is taking a “modern approach” to life story of Frank and her Jewish family.
Frank posthumously became famous after her diaries about living in Nazi-occupied Holland were published around the world.
