UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned indie Tiger Aspect Productions to create a 3x60mins ob doc that feature “unprecedented” access to British tax inspectors.
Meet the Taxman (WT) will follow staff at HM Revenue and Customs as it goes on a government-decreed push to chase down £1 billion (US$1.6 billion) in unpaid taxes.
Tiger Aspect’s head of factual Clare Handford and Simon Ford are executive producers and Marcus Sulley is the producer and director.
Channel 4 head of documentaries Nick Mirsky said: “Money from taxation funds everything we value most about society, yet the team who collect it have often been viewed with mistrust and suspicion. What is exciting about this commission is that it offers unique access to a group of public servants on whom we are more dependent than ever to help make the nation’s books balance.”
