The show, which has its global launch on the first day of MIPTV (Monday April 7), follows Gyllenhaal as a woman fighting for peace in the Middle East who finds herself the subject of Whitehall scrutiny over the death of a Palestinian businessman.
The BBC and Sundance Channel drama will screen on Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Secretary) at the Palais des Festivals and be followed by an exclusive Q&A with Gyllenhaal, British actor Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch), creator Hugo Blick and executive producer Greg Brenman.
The Honourable Woman is a coproduction of Eight Rooks and Brenman’s Drama Republic.
“There is already huge excitement from international broadcasters about this new drama,” said BBCWW’s president, global markets Paul Dempsey. “The combination of Maggie Gyllenhaal in the lead role and the creativity of Hugo Blick makes The Honourable Woman a must-see thriller.”
BBCWW will also be in town with 3x50mins doc series Louis Theroux’s LA Stories; 8x60mins Mud, Sweat and Gears, a BBC America original production produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for BBC America and BBC Worldwide; Professor Brian Cox’s latest show Human Universe; Life Story, which is narrated by Sir David Attenborough; the 5x50mins Monsoon and seasons two of Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan and Da Vinci’s Demons.
