TV gains hand Lionsgate $2.6bn revenues

Orange-is-the-New-BlackRecord results for Lionsgate Entertainment’s television production and international businesses helped the US studio to full-year revenues of US$2.63 billion.

That figure is down on the US$2.71 billion posted the year before, but this primarily reflected a domestic theatrical slate of 13 releases, compared with 19 the prior year.

The studio said those losses were “partially offset” by revenue gains in its television production and international businesses.

The television production segment posted record full-year revenue of US$447.4 million, while international revenue was at an all-time of US$397.1 million.

Domestic television deliveries in the fiscal year totalled 176 episodes and 122 hours of television, including two successful seasons of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black (pictured), two seasons of cable series Nashville, seasons of AMC’s Mad Men, and season six of Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and Comedy Central’s Anger Management.

Lionsgate’s fourth quarter revenue was down on the US$785.7 million posted a year ago, and stood at US$721.9 million. Net income sipped from US$163 million to US$49.2 million.

Full year adjusted EBIDTA was a record US$370.8 million.
