Lake steps down as Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia CEO

Michael Lake has stepped down as CEO of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios to become group managing director of a Malaysian creative content investment organisation.

This comes just a week after the studio, which is the largest in south east Asia, opened its doors.

Lake has been chief exec of the facility’s financial parent group, Iskandar Malaysia Studios since 2010.

However, he is now joining Rhizophora Ventures, which is a wholly-owned business of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios co-owner Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

Replacing Lake today is Rezal A. Rahman. He has been one of Lake’s chief lieutenants during the past three years. Lake is to remain on the IMS board.

Netflix’s Weinstein Company-produced drama Marco Polo will film at the facility, which is a JV of the UK’s Pinewood Studios and Iskandar Malaysia Studios.
