Zodiak detects Pinkertons potential

Zodiak Rights has acquired The Pinkertons, a 22-part action-adventure detective drama from Canada’s Rosetta Media and Buffalo Gal Pictures.

Caroline TorranceThe series, set in the American Wild West of the 1860s, draws on real life cases of the Pinkerton Detective Agency, which employed the US’s first female detective, Kate Warne.

In the US, The Pinkertons will debut in the fall of 2014 in first-run syndication after Rohrs Media Group cleared it in 85% of the country to station groups including Tribune, Weigel, Hearst, LIN, Meredith, Cox and The CW PLUS.

Zodiak Media’s international sales arm will take the property to Cannes in October as part of a drama catalogue that also includes The Returned, the Millennium Trilogy, and Being Human.

“We are thrilled to represent this exciting series which has all the markings of a huge hit worldwide,” said Caroline Torrance, head of scripted at Zodiak Rights (pictured).

Pre-production on the show is underway in Winnipeg and Toronto, and Angus Macfadyen (Turn, Braveheart) has signed up to play agency founder Allan Pinkerton.

Peleton Entertainment’s Todd Berger packaged and arranged financing for The Pinkertons.
