She became WDR mediagroup’s head of content on Ausgust 1. She will oversee international sales and broadcast distribution of WDR’s children’s brands and seek to exploit rights across platforms.
She comes across from ProSiebenSat.1, where she was a sales director in the German broadcaster’s content sales division. She previously worked for Sony Pictures Television Germany and ZDF Enterprises.
Fischer will report to WDRmg’s director of programme exploitation and project management Andrea Zuska.
“By strengthening programme exploitation with Stefanie Fischer’s appointment, we are systematically continuing the expansion of the area,” said Zuska. “In addition to our activities as a licensor for our merchandising portfolio of children’s brands, we see great growth potential for the future, primarily in bespoke content strategies and in the internationalisation of our children’s division.
“The entry into international co-productions will help us secure attractive rights for the merchandising business and the sale of broadcasting rights,”
