Turner has recruited Karin Lindström as programme director of its entertainment channels in the Nordic region.
The duties covered by the role were previously handled from Turner’s London base, but Lindström will work out of Stockholm as the US company seeks to establish a stronger on-the-ground presence in the Nordic region.
Lindström joins from SBS Discovery, the Discovery-owned free-to-air broadcast operation in the Nordics, where she was a buyer. She was also at ESPN for over a decade and at Swedish commercial broadcaster Kanal 5.
At Turner she will oversee programming for the TNT, Showtime, Silver, TNT Film and TCM channels.
“We are proud that a strong candidate as Karin accepted this key position, and we are confident that she will take TNT to new levels with her expertise and local knowledge,” said Bo Falk Østergaard, CEO of Turner Broadcasting Nordic and Baltics AB.
Lindström’s hire follows that of Morten Skov Hansen earlier this year as programme director for Cartoon Network and Boomerang, again relocating those responsibilities locally. Turner has also moved creative services to Stockholm and its playout to Estonia.
