The managing director of Eyeworks Television Australia is exiting to form a new joint venture prodco with Aussie post-production house Cutting Edge.
John McAvoy is launching McAvoy Media. His departure comes after Warner Bros. acquired Eyeworks Group this year.
Cutting Edge CEO Michael Burton said: “At Cutting Edge we offer so much more than a traditional post house and with John’s 20 years’ experience, we will deliver significant opportunities right across the group in all areas of content creation.”
McAvoy’s credits at Eyeworks include Celebrity Splash, Gold Coast Cops and Gangs Of Oz. He departs the company next month.
Former Nine Network factual chief McAvoy added: “Eyeworks before and after the acquisition from Warners has been excellent to deal with on every level. I have very fond memories of my time.
“The business is in very good shape and I wish them continued success post my departure in October. I am however thrilled about my new partnership with Cutting Edge. I have an intimate knowledge of their people and business and am very enthusiastic about developing a future in television with them.”
