Amazon greenlights Soderbergh, Ron Perlman dramas

Craig-Roberts-and-Gage-Golightly-in-Red-OaksE-commerce giant Amazon has given full series orders to Ron Perlman drama series Hand of God and Steven Soderbergh comedy, Red Oaks.

Both shows were part of the latest batch of pilots for Amazon’s streaming service Prime Instant Video.

Amazon takes its pilots to series based on customer reaction and the thoughts of its programming team, headed by Roy Price.

“These shows come from some of the most talented creators in the business. Customers loved the pilot episodes and we can’t wait to hear what they think of the entire series.”

Dana-Delany-and-Ron-Perlman-in-Hand-of-GodHand of God (right) is World War Z director Marc Forster’s first small screen effort. It stars Perlman as a hard-living, law-bending judge who suffers a breakdown and goes on a vigilante quest to find a rapist who tore his family apart.

Soderbergh and Eastbound and Down producer David Gordon Green’s Red Oaks (pictured) follows a tennis professional at a well-to-do 1980s country club in New Jersey. Movie producer Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven) has recently had TV success with Cinemax period drama The Knick.
