France’s TF1 investigates CSI: Cyber

CSIC-cropTF1 has acquired the latest CSI: Crime Scene Investigation spin-off, CSI: Cyber.

The French commercial broadcaster has taken exclusive first-window rights to the series, which recently launched on broadcast net CBS in the US.

TF1 has aired the original CSI in France since 2001.

“The CSI franchise is a French audience favorite on TF1 with huge ratings,” said Fabrice Bailly, TF1 head of programming. “We are excited by the latest spinoff CSI: yber from our partner CBS Studios International and Jerry Bruckheimer Television.”

The series is distributed by CBS Studios International, which struck the French deal.

“TF1 has been a valuable partner to us over the years, making a significant contribution to the global success of the CSI franchise,” said Armando Nuñez, president and CEO, CBS Global Distribution Group said. “So it’s only natural that TF1’s schedule is the perfect home for CSI: Cyber.”

The original CSI has been sold into 200-plus territories. CSI Cyber has been picked up by broadcasters including Channel 5 in the UK.

The series stars Patricia Arquette as a cyber-psychologist who tracks online crimes that play out in the real world. The show was inspired by the real life cyber-psychologist Mary Aiken.

In related news, The CW network has given a full season order to two CBSSI-distributed shows that launched on the net this year, the Arrow spin-off The Flash and comedy Jane the Virgin.
