US cable net lands Schitt’s Creek

Schitt's-CreekUS cable net Pop, the rebranded TV Guide Network, has acquired Schitt’s Creek, the Canadian comedy series created by Eugene Levy and Daniel Levy.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment distributes the show and launched it internationally last week at MIPCOM. The series will be the first original comedy on Pop. The CBS and Lionsgate-owned net will launch it in 2015.

Commissioning broadcaster, Canada’s CBC, will premiere the comedy on January 13.

The half-hour ‘riches to rags’ single-camera comedy follows a millionaire family who become broke and are forced to move to the titular town they once bought for a joke.

Greg Johnson, executive VP of Distribution for the Americas, ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: “We’re delighted to have POP on board and with the interest that the series has already attracted from a broad international audience at MIPCOM.”

Schitt’s Creek is produced by the Levy’s Not A Real Company Productions Inc.
