CBS closes door on Millers

The-Millers_cropUS broadcaster CBS has cancelled its multi-cam sitcom The Millers.

The show, currently in its second season, took a low 0.5 ratings in the key 18-48 demographic in its most recent episode.

CBS has moved to pull it from air, with today’s episode the last to have an official scheduled broadcast.

The show, from CBS Television Studios and Amigos de Garcia Productions, has sold internationally to Comedy Central in the UK. It follows Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as a newly-divorced newscaster whose mother moves in with him after leaving his father, who in turn moves in with Arnett’s sister.

It’s not all bad news for Arnett, however. His new prodco, Electric Avenue, has a first-look deal with CBS TV Studios, and is thought to be working to adapt How Not to Calm a Child on a Plane: And Other Lessons in Parenting From a Highly Questionable Source, a collection of autobiographical essays from TV actress Johanna Stein, for television.
