Fox’s Red Band Society disbanded

Red-Band-SocietyFox’s teen medical drama Red Band Society has been pulled from schedules, prompting questions over its future.

The series will drop from air after its tenth episode on December 3, with US broadcaster Fox opting not to order a back nine. Thirteen episodes have filmed so far, and it is unclear when and where the final three will transmit.

The show, coproduced with Amblin TV, was ABC Studios’ first series for Fox.

It is based on a Catalan format from producer and distributor Filmax and for TV3 and Antena 3, and follows a group of unusual children on a cancer ward. Rai is working on an Italian version, titled Braccialetti Rossi, which comes from Palomar and Rai Fiction.

It is the latest new season network show to be cancelled or pulled from air, coming after the axing of ABC’s Selfie and Manhattan Love Story; NBC’s A to Z, Bad Judge and Constantine; and Fox’s Mulaney.
