Eileen O’Neill is leaving Discovery Studios just half a year after she was named as its global group president.
O’Neill, who is credited with expanding the scope and scale of Discovery Communications’ flagship female-skewed brand TLC, will leave her post on May 1 – exactly 25 years after she joined the company.
The news comes as a surprise following her promotion to global group president of Discovery’s international production division in August – a role that also saw her take a place on the board of All3Media.
That change saw Lee Bartlett hand her control of global production, though he remained in charge of other Discovery business affairs divisions.
The announcement came in an internal memo O’Neill sent today.
