AOL and the Guardian have struck a content deal, and the UK newspaper’s news and documentary content will be distributed via the AOL On platform.
AOL will add new and archive programming from the Guardian to its video service. The content has previously been hosted on the newspaper’s own website, but the newspaper is seeking a wider audience for its growing range of news, current affairs and factual programming.
AOL claims a billion views a month for content, which spans over a million premium videos it has commissioned and produced and a third-party content from its official partners, across the AOL On platform.
Speaking about the Guardian deal, Graham Moysey, head of international, AOL said: “Curation and distribution go hand-in-hand with great content and we’re delighted the Guardian has chosen AOL On as a partner to drive even greater audiences to their content.”
AOL has been moving heavily into original content. It recently ordered a raft of new series and said it was moving to a year-round commissioning model.
