Pulse, Israeli firm create prodco with Eastwood

London-based Pulse Films and Israeli producer Abot Hamieri have launched an entertainment production company with Objective Productions executive Nathan Eastwood.

Nathan EastwoodThe companies have co-launched East Entertainment, which will focus on creating global entertainment and reality formats.

Eastwood (pictured) will lead East as managing director, and is the latest exec to leave All3Media-owned Objective following the mass exodus of entertainment bosses who left recently for ITV Studios.

He is known for formats such as ITV’s The Cube, and has worked on shows including TFI Friday, Bansai, X Factor and Hell’s Kitchen. He is also the creator of E4 prank show Bad Robots.

Pulse, which operates in the television, digital and film production spaces, is know for Sky1 doc series Pineapple Dance Studios and docs such as Channel 4’s When Björk Met Attenborough.

Abot Hamieri creates formats such as The Power Couple and The Band, and produces Israeli versions of X Factor, The Amazing Race. The Bachelor and Survivor.

“This is to really try to create the next generation of formats,” Pulse CEO Thomas Benski (pictured below right) told TBI. “Television is at the core of our expansion plan, and we’ll do this around East, which is going to be doing big formats and big entertainment shows and will bring the best of all the parties involved.”

“We believe that the combination of Nathan’s experience and track record in creating and producing prime-time shows, Pulse’s modern approach to entertainment and IP and Abot Hamieri’s world-renowned reputation as a high-end producer and creator of global entertainment formats, is incredibly exciting.”

Abot Hamieri’s CEO, Guy Hamieri, who runs the prodco with Eitan Abot, added: “As a company, we saw a great synergy between our experience in creating and producing big prime-time formats and Pulse’s forward thinking approach to content and delivery methods. The launch of East Entertainment is incredibly exciting and we look forward to a partnership capable of challenging the existing television landscape and changing it for the better.”

Eastwood said the new firm had “ambitious growth plans on a global scale that will further intensify both companies’ position as key international players within the television space”.
