Legendary poaches Viacom sales exec

The TV division of US indie studio Legendary has hired Marco Arabit as its vice president, distribution for the EMEA region.

Arabit will work out of Legendary’s London base and wll handle sales into Southern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

He starts in the new role on October 1 and will report to John McMahon, Legendary Television’s executive vice president and managing director, distribution for EMEA.

GrindonLegendary Television’s president of worldwide distribution, Michael Grindon, said: “Marco’s experience licensing a wide variety of series and formats across many genres and markets stretching across EMEA is invaluable.”

Arabit was most recently senior director, international programme sales at VIMN. In an eight-year stint at Viacom he has held CEE and Southern Europe-specific sales roles.

Legendary’s TV fare includes the upcomimg Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, which, as first reported in TBI earlier this year, was produced through Legendary Digital Media for multichannel network Fullscreen’s new SVOD service.

Its other offerings include The Expanse, a Syfy ‘space opera’ that represents a first foray into third-party distribution.
