From today boxing fans will be able to relive the weekend’s boxing bout between former heavyweight champion David Haye and Mark de Mori in immersive virtual reality.
The app will be available on Android smartphones and tablets worldwide – except in France – or via Haye’s ‘Hayemaker’ website, in what IM360 claims is the “first-ever live VR boxing match”.
“I’m fascinated by new emerging technologies, and am constantly looking to embrace the digital world in order to connect with myfans. With this in mind, I’m thrilled to bring immersive VR technology to big time boxing – allowing the public to stand alongside me in the ring, letting them see what I see and experience every punch,” said Haye.
The match, which was held at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday, was over in 130 seconds after Haye won by a knockout in the first round.
UKTV broadcasted the fight live in the UK – marking the first time the multichannel operator had aired a significant sporting event.
