Toggle announces raft of OTT originals

Kids-logo-460_2ToggleToggle has ordered a raft of originals for its kids OTT service.

The Singaporean streaming operation said the new digital-only projects will feature local stars including Kumar, Mark Lee, Alaric Tay, Vernetta Lopez, Suhaimi Yusof, Shane Pow and Dennis Chew.

Toggle offers English and Mandarin-language content, and is part of Singaporean broadcast group MediaCorp.

The service, which was revamped last April, has already made originals such as Sabo, Mystic Whispers and Toggle Talk.

The new originals slate includes A Selfie’s Tale, an English-language comedy about a narcissist gym instructor, and Trapped Minds, a Chinese-language thriller miniseries.

Anil Nihalani, head, connected media, Mediacorp said: “Our viewers are getting more sophisticated, expecting to be excited by content they can relate to and artistes they can emulate. We hope that the 11 carefully curated new productions will strike a chord with our viewers.”

Dorothy Lai, director, public service broadcasting at local media regulator the MDA, added: “We are glad to support Mediacorp in developing more original local content on Toggle under MDA’s PSB Contestable Fund Scheme. As media consumption shifts online, Singapore viewers can look forward to a greater variety of local content on Toggle.

Toggle added that it plans to work with digital production houses including Maker Studios, Big 3 Media, Tree Potatoes and Mediacorp Studios on future originals.
