Cisneros pay TV chief exits

Cosme LopezCosme Lopez is leaving his post at the top of Cisneros Media’s pay TV division after 15 years with the Venezuelan broadcast group.

Members of Cisneros Media Distribution’s team, which executive VP of content distribution Marcello Coltro leads, will assume Lopez’s duties.

Lopez (pictured) most recently held the post of senior VP and general manager of pay TV channels and services.

He began his career at CMD predecessor Venevision International, before leaving to join HBO Latin America. He returned to Cisneros in 2000 as GM of cable channel Venevision Continental, and later established the firm’s pay TV channels and servces (Venevision Plus, VmasTV and VePlusTV) in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since being promoted to SVP in December 2014, he has established a partnership with Turner Broadcasting System Latin America to programme the latter’s Glitz* pay TV network.

“I would only like to thank Cosme for his dedication and contributions to our company and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” said Cisneros president Jonathan Blum.
