Nice prodco gets new CEO as Marschall exits

Formats-logo-460_2Akos ErdosNice Entertainment producer Paprika Latino has promoted its COO to replace current CEO Peter Marschall.

Akos Erdos’ elevation to chief executive comes as part of what Paprika described as a “planned succession process”. He joined the firm in 2013 from Hungary’s Origo Film Studios.

The company was born in Romania and has expanded through central and eastern Europe. It also has a base in Costa Rica, where formats such as Paradise Hotel, Survivor and Are You the One are produced for various international broadcasters.

Paprika’s owned formats include Fish on the Cake.

Marschall, who founded the firm in 2004, said: “Paprika has been my total focus and dedication for more than ten years. I have had the privilege to build and work with some of the most talented teams in the business, and I am really proud of what we have accomplished together.”

Nice CEO Morten Aass wished Marschall “the very best of luck for the future”, and added new chief Erdos would “continue to develop our relationships with our ever growing customer base, and as more and more of our own formats are broadcasted across the central Europe region”.

The news comes as speculation around Nice’s future continues to bubble, Sources have linked Sony Pictures Television and Lagardere Entertainment with a deal for the company, which acts as the production division of troubled European broadcaster Modern Times Group.

MTG has been restructuring to become a more digital-focused broadcast group, a move that has resulted in various staff cuts.
