Scripted-logo-460_2Can't Cope Won't Cope2Content Media Corp. has signed an exclusive first-look deal with Dublin-based producer Deadpan Pictures, the firm behind Sky comedy Moone Boy.

London-based Content Television & Digital will sell six Deadpan-created comedy-dramas internationally, beginning with 6x30mins RTÉ2 drama Can’t Cope Won’t Cope. Content already distributes Deadpan’s show Trivia.

Paul Donovan, Ailish McElmeel and Shane Murphy lead Deadpan, which will work with Content to develop and distribute new titles.

Can’t Cope Won’t Cope follows two entitled Dublin girls who take on “the perilous waters of adulthood… fuelled by vodka”.

“This deal is an exciting first for an Irish company and a big endorsement of both the creative talent and the slate of projects Deadpan Pictures is developing,” said Donovan, Deadpan’s managing director.

Deadpan’s best known title, Moone Boy, has been a critical and ratings success for Sky1 in the UK. The company initially produced the show as Grand Pictures, from which Deadpan span out in 2014.

New series Can’t Cope Won’t Cope was commissioned with financial support from the BAI and Ireland’s Section 481 tax credit, and debuts later this year.
