BBC exec moves to Jasper James’ Screen Glue

Will_Aslett-headshot-IMG_0080Will Aslett has joined UK indie Screen Glue from pubcaster the BBC.

Screen Glue is the independent UK-based prodco created by Jasper James, former creative director at Walking with Dinosaurs producer Impossible Pictures. James and Aslett worked together at Impossible, and will be reunited at Screen Glue, with the new recruit coming in to work up unscripted projects.

At the BBC Aslett was the international lead for BBC History and Business and his credits included Royal Wives at War, How Hip Hop Conquered the World.

Prior to that he was part of the BBC Science team, executive producing shows including Richard Hammond Builds a Planet and Pompeii: The Mystery of the Bodies Frozen in Time. He has also worked at factual indie Pioneer.

Will Aslett added: “Screen Glue is all about scale – big international science and history projects, ambitious drama docs and entertaining factual programming with global reach – and I find that kind of brief very exciting.

“I will be able to combine my experience and interests with Jasper’s vision for a different way of doing things and we are confident of producing factual content that will both excite broadcasters and engage viewers.”

Screen Glue is currently working on A Day in the Life of Planet Earth with ZDF Enterprises, which it will be pitching at the Sunny Side of the Doc event in La Rochelle.

The prodco has a first-look deal with UK-based distributor DRG.
