Fox will transmit The F Word live on air

Gordon RamsayFormats-logo-460_2Fox has ordered Gordon Ramsay format The F Word and will put the US broadcast version out live.

Sweary chef and presenter Ramsay’s new prodco, Studio Ramsay, will make the Fox series, which will debut in 2017.

In the show, families battle it out in a cooking competition, serving up dishes for Ramsay and a room full of diners including VIPs and celebrities. Billed as a variety cooking show, there are also segments with Ramsay talking to the celebs in attendance in the hour-long show.

The deal extends Ramsay’s relationship with Fox. He has already made shows including Hell’s Kitchen, Masterchef, Masterchef Jr. and Hotel Hell for the broadcast net.

“Gordon Ramsay is not only one of the biggest names in the culinary world, but his expertise, combined with his larger-than-life personality, also make for genuine event television,” said David Madden, president, entertainment, Fox.

The F Word could come from no one but Gordon. Let’s face it, with Gordon live on television, the phrase ‘anything can happen’ takes on a whole new meaning.”

“We’re really ramping it up a notch with this new live cooking show each week, and I can’t wait for viewers to see the other surprises we have in store for each episode,” added Ramsay.

Studio Ramsay is a joint venture, created earlier this year, between the chef and Discovery and Liberty-owned All3Media. It sits alongside One Potato Two Potato, another prodco run by Ramsay and All3Media, through its Optomen unit. Last week it hired Chris Brogden as chief creative officer.
