Best of British SVOD re-ups with Scandi operators

Digital-headercirkus2ITV-backed best of British SVOD service Cirkus has inked new deals with two leading pay TV operators in the Nordics.

New long-term agreements with Com Hem in Sweden and Get in Norway will ensure the streaming service’s continued carriage on the platforms.

The new deals also extend the reach of Cirkus on Com Hem and Get.

On the former it will now be carried in the Silver and Gold packages and on the latter in the basic package.

Cirkus is run by industry veterans Mark Bradford and Hugh Williams, who pitch the service to pay TV operators, which, in the face of competition from Netflix and others, want a quality on-demand service.

“The renewal and broader packaging by both Com Hem and Get, two of the Nordic regions leading pay TV operators, is a huge vote of confidence on the value we deliver to these businesses and their subscribers,” the pair said in a statement.

Cirkus has recently branched into factual with a docs-focussed streaming service Curio.

UK broadcaster ITV took a majority stake in Cirkus last May.
