Fox officially ends Network Ten output deal

Simpsons_09_V2FFollowing CBS’s acquisition of Australia’s Network Ten, Fox has officially ended its output deal with the broadcaster, it has been reported.

The Australian reported today that Fox has issued a letter of termination for the long-term agreement which included library content and was set to expire in June 2019.

This follows reports that 21st Century Fox had pulled programming such as The Simpsons, Modern Family, M*A*S*H, Malcolm in the Middles, Futurama and This Is Us earlier this month.

The news arrives as CBS’s Ten deal nears completion. CBS has received the deal greenlight from Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB), leaving only the legal transfer of shares as an outstanding issue.

Prior to the deal, Ten had gone into administration after 21st Century Fox co-executive chariman Lachlan Murdoch, regional broadcast exec Bruce Gordon and businessman James Packer decided to pull their financial backing from the broadcaster.
